LLC Programming Ideas for Grade 4-6 Students
Introducing students in grades 4-6 to the ORC is a great way to bring classroom and library learning commons activities. Find some ideas for using three resources from the ORC to enliven programming for division II students.
Be sure to look for how to link some of these ideas to a monthly library contest. Don't have a budget for monthly library contests? Don't worry! Often children love to read in the library. Offering them an opportunity to sit in comfortable seating while drinking hot chocolate is a surprisingly sought after reward.

Ways to use the PowerKnowledge Suite in the Library Learning Commons
School librarians often are asked to pull print resources related to different curricular topics from the library collection. In my experience, this is especially prevalent in the K-6 setting. Creating permalinks of articles from the PowerKnowledge suite of resources allows a school librarian to not only pull print materials but also send along related digital content. This is a great way to support the learning commons philosophy in your school.
