Ways to use Literature Resource Center in the
Library Learning Commons

Supporting Classroom Novel Studies

Some schools have class sets of novel that are housed and/or checked through the library. A great way to let your staff know what resources are available for a particular book is to create QR codes using the article permalinks to relevant articles for that novel study. Attach the QR code to the box/shelf that houses the set of novels for ease of access.

Featured Staff Pick of the Month

Why not have your staff members submit their favorite picks at the beginning of the year and feature per month in your library? This is not only a great way to invite staff in to library programming it is also a fantastic way to increase circulation. If there are related articles in Literary Reference Centre, why not use the permalink feature to link them to your library website?  If you are using QR codes in your library consider creating a QR code with the permalink from the article and tape it to the front of the book. However, if you do not want to use QR codes a great face out display will also help with circulation.

Monthly Library Contest Idea: Keeping the identity of the teacher who submitted the favorite book of the month a secret will allow you to have student submit their guesses on what teacher chose the book and why. Sometimes for a hint you can post a picture of the teacher hidden behind the book mid month. This is a wonderful way to have students lining up at your door at the first of the month.
